How do I get my dog started as a daycare or boarding client at Urban Hound?

Please visit the “Contact Us” page and submit a request for a Meet and Greet session. We will obtain a current vaccination record from your veterinarian. Once everything comes together, look for our follow-up “Meet and Greet” email with available dates and times, along with some additional information. Meet and Greets must be scheduled in advance - we do not accept walk-ins.

What is a Meet and Greet session?

A Meet and Greet session is an initial visit so that we can get to know your dog, and your dog can get to know us. During this time, we will perform an evaluation in order to make sure Urban Hound Playground is a good fit for your furry friend. We require that you set up a Meet and Greet session with us prior to beginning regular daycare or boarding visits. Meet and Greet sessions last 5 hours, but should you need to leave your dog with us all day, just let us know and we will make the necessary accommodations – normal daycare rates apply.

What do you mean you are kennel-free?

When we say kennel-free, we mean that your dog will not sleep in a kennel at night. Instead, they will sleep on a Kuranda bed, their favorite furniture, or the ground if they so desire. There is an Urban Hound staff member present all through the night to make sure everyone sleeps well.
However, during meal times, your dog will be placed briefly in a spacious kennel to enjoy their meal without any interruption.
We believe that a kennel-free environment allows dogs the comfort and mobility that they would experience when sleeping at home. If your dog sleeps in a kennel or crate at home, we have kennels and crates available for that as well.

What vaccinations does my dog all need?

Your dog must be up-to-date with their rabies, Bordetella (kennel cough) and distemper vaccinations (complete series). Your dog also must be at least 16 weeks of age. If your dog is over 7 months old they must be spayed or neutered.
Additionally, your dog should be:

  • Flea and tick free
  • Internal parasite free
  • In good health – no doggy colds, flus, or other contagious diseases, please

How do I make a reservation?

Once you are an established customer, you will put in all requests for daycare and boarding through our online reservation system and/or mobile app. This is your Customer Portal. A shortcut link is available in the upper right corner of this website.

Do you accept puppies for daycare and boarding?

Yes! We accept puppies once they are 16 weeks of age. Your puppy must be fully vaccinated for rabies, Bordetella (kennel cough), and distemper. The distemper vaccination is typically a 3-part series and must be complete.
*Please check with your vet if your puppy is between 16 and 24 weeks old to make sure that your puppy is ready for daycare/boarding.

Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?

Once your dog is 7 months old, they must be spayed or neutered for the protection and safety of all of our guests.

Do you accept bully breeds?

We are not able to accommodate pure-bred bully breeds at Urban Hound Playground. These breeds are: Pitbull, Chow Chow, Staffordshire Terrier, and Rottweilers.

Can you give my dog their medications?

Absolutely! Just provide us with the necessary information such as what time of day it should be administered, how much and how often.

Do you give tours of the facility?

In order to eliminate potential stress on our visiting dogs, we do not offer in-person tours. However, you are more than welcome to stop in and watch our facility cameras available in the lobby. Someone will be available to answer any questions you may have. If you do decide to stop in to check us out, we ask that you leave your dog at home. Your dog will have another opportunity if you decide to proceed with a Meet and Greet session.

Do you have a vet on staff?

We are affiliated with Woodlake Veterinary Clinic should there be an emergency.

What payments do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. We do not accept personal checks or peer-to-peer mobile payments such as Venmo or PayPal.

Do you have a small dog area?

Yes! We have a separate playroom for our small, elderly, or extremely mellow guests. During your dog’s Meet and Greet session, we will determine which play area is best suited for your dog.

Are the dogs supervised at all times?

Absolutely! The safety of our furry friends is our number one priority, so we will always supervise our guests.

What should I bring to daycare and boarding?

All dogs must be collared, on-leash, and under owner control at all times while on Urban Hound Playground property.

Daycare

  • A pre-bagged lunch and/or dinner, only if your dog eats during the hours they are at daycare (lunch is served at 11am; dinner at 5pm – we do not offer breakfast to daycare dogs)
  • Medication, if administration is required during the daycare hours
  • Do not bring any toys, bones, bowls, beds, etc.

Boarding

  • Food and medication are the most important items!
  • Your boarding reservation confirmation and reminder emails will have detailed instructions on what to bring and not bring depending upon your dog’s sleeping accommodations. In general, everything should be clearly labeled with your dog’s name and any applicable instructions

What is your cancellation policy?

Daycare reservations must be cancelled by the night before to avoid being charged. Boardings with a deposit must be cancelled 15 or more days prior to the start date; non-deposit boardings must be cancelled 8 or more days prior to the start date. You will be charged for late cancellations and “no-shows”. Please refer to your reservation emails and your Customer Portal for specific details regarding cancellation policies and fees, deposit refund/forfeiture, etc.

How often is your facility cleaned?

Our facilities are cleaned all day, every day.
